Case study – Improvement of the application properties of a natural phytosanitary formulation
Sector: Agrochemicals
Type of client: Plant treatment consultant
Service contact: –
The Customer develops a natural formulation based on tannin for the treatment of plants and encounters in particular difficulties in solubilizing its phytosanitary product during the placing in vats. So he turns to Rheonis to improve the performance ofapplication of its product and finalize the formula for filing the regulatory file.
R&D collaboration for formula improvement for registration
Rheonis has implemented its know-how in formulation, in predictive instrumental techniques and in bibliographic research to propose an optimization of the phytosanitary formulation taking into account the expected regulatory requirements. This project, carried out within the framework of a collaboration, made it possible to refine and redirect the specifications as the results were produced.
The main stages of the study:
- State of the art of the active substance and the phenomenon of solubilization
- Implementation of a test relating to the solubilization and different application properties of the product
- R&D study to optimize the existing formulation
- Performing regulatory tests
- Technical support for the development of the regulatory dossier

Instrumental creativity for substantial performance gains
Our partner had already validated the treatment performance of its product. The implementation of a method for simulating application conditions coupled with rheological measurements made it possible to quantify the performance of different formulation variants and lead to an optimization of the formulation in 6 months. RHEONIS, through its action of technical support for the constitution of the regulatory file, carried out a large part of the background research of scientific articles on the harmlessness of tannins and on their relevance for the regulatory file.
Instrumental application simulation at the service of formulation improvement
Low material consumption
Short completion time
Benchmark of candidates
Scientific determination of favorable conditions
