Introduction to Rheology for Paints and Coatings

Objectives

During this 3-hour distance training organized in partnership with AFPEV and AFTPVA, participants will learn about the main concepts of rheology related to the properties ofapplication paints (liquids) and other coatings.

Initiation

  • Any industrial sector concerned with the development, manufacture or application of paints and their ingredients

Engineer / Technician of R&D / Innovation / Laboratory services

Prerequisites: Professional activity in the field of paints, varnishes, inks, coatings, etc.

  • Technical and scientific issues of formulation, production and application of paints and links with flow issues
  • Main rheology concepts related to painting issues: viscosity(s), shear, stress, thixotropy
  • Some concepts beyond rheology: surface tension, wettability, spinning, etc.
  • Conclusions on the contributions and limits of rheology for paints and their ingredients
