What is the SPIQI® methodology?

SPIQI, for Science-based Performance, Innovation and Quality for Industry, is our innovative R&D methodology for performance, quality, innovation and sustainability of processing industries of materials.

Objectives

SPIQI targets the development of improvements, solutions, methods and long-lasting technical innovations at the heart of the technical challenges of material transformations.

Indeed, the central technical issue of the transformation industries is that of mastering the couplings between materials and conditions of implementation. However, these questions are still largely dealt with in the field from the angle of empiricism and trial and error approaches, with considerable direct and indirect costs that are often considered, wrongly, as inevitable.

Principles

SPIQI is a methodology technical-scientific industrial, based on the idea that the transformations of matter are based on phenomena of a physical nature (mechanical, physico-chemical, chemical, etc.), an appropriate understanding of which opens the way to mastery.

SPIQI is a methodology systemic, placing at the center the questions related to the couplings between materials, products, formulation, equipment, processes, instruments, methods. It is a question of understanding these couplings in order to enable them to be mastered.

SPIQI is a methodology transverse, considering the stakes and issues and their possible implications in the various services related to technical operations (R&D, industrialization, production, new works, etc.).

SPIQI is a methodology incremental, oriented towards the continuous improvement of practices and methods, which in turn allow both performance or quality increments as well as the development of breakthrough solutions.

Approach

The methodology can be applied when a technical problem or a range of difficulties related to the behavior and transformations of matter are encountered by one or more departments.

The implementation of SPIQI follows a sequential approach of Diagnosis – R&D – Implementation, in an approach adapted to the specificities of the industrial context and taking into account the cross-interactions between the influencing factors.

The SPIQI methodology is based on the Industrial Phenomenology, Behavioral Instrumental Techniques, the Instrumented Micro-Pilots, the Smart Data as well as other more traditional scientific tools.

From Control to Mastery

The SPIQI methodology offers processing industries concrete solutions to existing difficulties but also to sustainably improve practices, from R&D to application.

SPIQI sequence

Proven in more than 20 sectors of industrial transformation, SPIQI allows manufacturers to progress from control to mastery, to gain in flexibility, capacity for innovation and optimization.
